Sustainable Dawlish
About us
Sustainable Dawlish (Transition) is a not-for-profit Community group, and since 2011 we have provided Dawlish residents and visitors with the encouragement and support necessary to make positive lifestyle choices to move to a low carbon, sustainable, ethical future and to meet the challenges of Climate change.
We organise activities to raise awareness of the issues associated with the use of fossil fuels and high energy consumption. Our Events have included seed swaps, growing and sharing produce; developing a Dawlish Farmer’s Market; an increasing biodiversity in Dawlish project; holding Community Energy forums and Sustainable Transport initiatives; clothes swaps; and facilitating a Great Big Green Week of events in Dawlish delivered by ourselves and partnership organisations. We organise the Dawlish Walking Festival, featuring special interest walks to increase environmental appreciation and understanding, fitness and good mental health.
Recent Project
Our Green Futures is a wonderful new project for Dawlish funded by Transition Together and delivered by Turn the Tide Teignbridge CIC and Sustainable Dawlish, happening until February 2025. The project aims to provide ideas and support to local community groups to meet the dual challenge of climate and ecology emergencies. We will be creating 10 imaginative meetings to include as wide a range of different people as possible, to both raise awareness and inspire you to join others in creating a green vision for your community. We will be inviting bids to enable groups to realise their Green Futures vision. Click for more information on Green Futures.
