Share Shop Tiverton
Opened in 2024, Share Shop is a community store of household equipment in the centre of Tiverton where you can borrow items affordably instead of buying. Use it for items you only use from time to time – for cleaning, DIY, parties and catering for special events, camping or seasonal gardening tasks. Join up to reduce waste and clutter and save money!
We aim to make what we use more affordable for all, and to reduce our impact on the environment. We have over 200 items to borrow in our online catalogue, and stock is growing all the time. To do this we depend on donations of equipment in good working order.
Share Shop runs from the Eco hub in the centre of Tiverton, and is open for borrowing and returns every Saturday morning. We received a National Lottery grant in 2022 for a development worker to set up our website and online catalogue and help train volunteers. This means that you can join the library and browse and reserve items you want online and just pop into a Saturday session to pick up the item you have reserved.
We have a dedicated group of volunteers but have a constant need for more. Volunteers look after the items in our stock, check new donations and register them into our stock, lend out items and update our online catalogue with items borrowed and returned. We also need people to maintain and repair items, and for publicity and website maintenance. There are many roles which suit different volunteers, so we always want to hear from new ones! The more we are able to lend out, the greater the saving in resources and emissions.
Share Shop is a Sustainable Tiverton Project.
