Turn the Tide Teignbridge

Turn the Tide is an annual, free, family-friendly event for all ages that promotes care for our marine environment, seaside locations and waterways, and also wellbeing. It ran in June 2022 and May 2023. We look forward in 2024 to another great event and are planning for the weekend of 8/9th June. It’s the start of Great Big Green Week and the 8th is World Ocean Day! What could be better!

We work very closely with Dawlish Town Council and are very grateful for their support.

Brought to you by local eco-friendly businesses, organisations, and communities each doing amazing things, supporting great local causes, and helping to put towns that care for the seaside, environment and their communities’ personal health and their connections to nature on the map.

Expect information stalls, educational activities, presentations and workshops for all ages, recycled art, circus skills, wildlife organisations, sustainable energy, young people/school involvement, entertainers, storytelling, mindful walks, music/sea shanties, wellbeing practitioners and mermaids!

Fringe activities – we aim to involve schools, youth groups and libraries in creative activities prior to the event. We also engage with and consult other relevant organisations. We invite commercial and community premises to put on events that complement our theme throughout the year.

Our Values:

  • It is free to all members of the public to attend.
  • It is fun.
  • The day has an educational element for both children and adults.
  • It embraces both sustainable lifestyles and the organisations and businesses which help promote environmentally attuned products and services.
  • It is non-political.
  • The event is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among all participants and eliminating discrimination.

About us/who we are

Turn the Tide would not have happened without the support of Dawlish Town Council. In order to run and safeguard future events, three volunteer Wildlife Wardens, Dave Hutton, Scott Williams and Gill King, formed Turn the Tide Teignbridge Community Interest Company (CIC).

Now we are looking at a two day event in 2024, plus other related projects and events, other supporters have joined us to help with the organisation. If you would like to get involved too, please email turnthetideteignbridge@gmail.com

News of all our activities will appear on our website and on our Facebook page.
