Transition Tavistock

About Us

We seek to bring our community together by sharing knowledge and practical ideas to use less energy and resources, grow more of our own food, and supply and buy more locally. Our goal is to help build a strong and self-supporting community for Tavistock and the surrounding areas, to bring about a more sustainable and better future.

What we do

Provide an umbrella organisation under which groups of like-mined people can launch sustainability projects. We also act as a networking, consultative and information capacities, information stands at local events, and take part in community activities promoting sustainability.

Recent projects

Published a map of Tavistock highlighting the walkable and weelable cut throughs that join roads and estates together, encouraging people to get out and about for their wellbeing and the environment.

Future Plans

Continue with our engagement activities with the public, councils and authorities. Publish a new edition of the Walkable Tavistock path and street index Map.

Events we hold

We are involved in many community events, for example, a regular Wellbeing Fair, Energy Fest, Carnival and Garden Show. At these events, we share ideas on sustainability and how people can get involved. We also hold an online bimonthly book group, a travel action group, and a monthly informal Green Drinks meeting.
