Sustainable Tiverton
Sustainable Tiverton started life as Sustainable Villages in 2008. We are a network of projects started and run by people in Tiverton and the surrounding villages. All the projects contribute towards the twin goals of reducing carbon emissions and improving biodiversity. We are part of the Transition Network and CAG Devon.
We now have five citizen action groups under the umbrella of the organisation which are Tiverton Repair Cafe, Community Beekeeping, the Tiverton Tree Team, and the ReROOTed café and community fridge. Uffculme Green Team was originally part of Sustainable Tiverton and now run independently.
We run regular a Give or Take event in Tiverton to encourage sharing resources, recycling and re-using. Other activities have been the establishment of allotments, an annual apple juicing event and equipment to lend to local groups and individuals for juicing, apple tree planting in public places, and a monthly on-line freecycle.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, we organised regular public meetings to raise awareness about aspects of the climate crisis and the challenges we face, and we hope to again when circumstances allow.
We have recently established an EcoHub in the centre of Tiverton and are developing our Share Shop project which we hope will open in the next six months.
We publish a regular newsletter (you can sign up on our website) detailing current events and activities.
