Sidmouth Repair Café
We are based in the Manstone/Woolbrook area of Sidmouth but welcome items for repair from further afield.
Our first Repair Café was held in September 2018 and since then we have become an important part of our local community, winning the Sustainable Sidmouth Champions Award in 2023 and often getting involved in other projects like the Beach Toy Library on Sidmouth Esplanade.
We meet on the last Saturday of every month except August and December. Our friendly Welcome Desk and Refreshments Café teams make sure items find the appropriate repairer, and visitors are encouraged to enjoy free hot drinks and homemade cake whilst they wait… there are also bacon baps available for a small charge.
We have a great team of fixers including electrical engineers, and people with textile, woodworking and general repair skills. One of our core values is to share skills and encourage learning, so repairs are carried out in conjunction with the person who brought along the broken item. There is no charge for repairs, although donation boxes are available.
Sidmouth Repair Café has been extremely well supported by our community and always generates a really positive, happy buzz from fixers, volunteers and people coming along with broken items alike.
As well as sharing and preserving repair skills for future generations, we put a high value on saving items from landfill, and also in working to affirm the value of neighbourliness and a strong community.
