Ivybridge Community Food
Who is Ivybridge Community Food?
Ivybridge Community Food (ICF) is an affordable food club, an initiative set up by Feeding Devon in November 2023. ICF has since evolved to become a locally run association to meet the needs of the community in Ivybridge, South Hams, Devon.
Since November 2023, operating from St John’s church hall and working in close cooperation with the St John’s community cafe, ICF has supported more than 200 households with more than 1,000 food bags. The Ivybridge community fridge and pantry has been operational since April 2024 and is also hosted at St John’s church. The St John’s community cafe provides a safe, warming space for all with home cooked lunches and deserts utilising food from the ICF food club
Supported by a network of more than 170 members and 25 volunteers, local businesses, the town council, church groups, and community initiatives such as the Dove project who support adults with learning disabilities, ICF provides a collaborative platform for Ivybridge to save food from waste and access affordable food through the Food Club and Community Fridge.
We expand our support to reach different groups in our community and enhance the social value of our volunteers by providing opportunities for increasing confidence and training for skills building.
Social inclusion and wellbeing are at the heart of our purpose. With this in mind, we develop projects and collaborate with other local groups and services to promote activities such as holding and taking part in local community events, community meals, growing food, composting, cooking activities and recipe sharing.
