About us

Nestled in Teignbridge, Devon, Bishopsteignton is a vibrant village packed with passionate people and community groups who love supporting one another. Carrying on the brilliant legacy of Sustainable Bishop, the Bishopsteignton Climate Impact Action group (CIA) launched in 2024. Operating as a parish council committee that works together with Parish Wildlife Wardens and residents, CIA is a truly community-led force for good; tackling the ecological and climate emergency through fun, interactive projects that aim to leave the planet a little brighter.

Education and community spirit are at the heart of everything they do. This year, CIA has hosted an exciting event every single month, ranging from an inspiring RSPB guided walk to a thought-provoking People’s Emergency Briefing and Q&A session with the local MP. The rest of 2026 promises even more, including a vibrant plant-based cookery demonstration and a sustainable Christmas celebration.

Beyond their popular talks, social media, and newsletters, CIA brings people together for hands-on activities like community weeding and litter picking. Their proudest triumph of 2026 is successfully encouraging Bishopsteignton Parish Council to manage all local green spaces entirely pesticide-free!

Looking ahead, CIA hopes to inspire local gardeners to follow suit. They are also diving into an eco-friendly new project to harvest non-potable water, creating thriving wildlife habitats while encouraging homeowners to join the wave.
