East Devon SkillShare

Saturday, 26 April 2025 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

- Free

Join us for an inspiring East Devon SkillShare event!

Are you passionate about reuse, repair, waste reduction, surplus food, growing food, biodiversity and nature recovery, composting, climate action or sustainable behaviours? This event is free and open to community groups, local volunteers and members of public.

At a time of uncertainty and instability this is an opportunity to come together and remind ourselves that the actions we take locally do make a difference. Come along for a day of connection with other likeminded people and learning about their projects, feel inspired, recharge your volunteering batteries, build your well being and resilience to return to your projects and activities feeling renewed.

What’s in store?

Morning

  • Join an excursion to Blackdown Hills Eco Hub – explore how they’re championing organic vegetable cultivation in healthy microbe rich living soils, advancing biochar research and supporting regenerative agriculture
  • Take a creative response to Climate Change with Thelma Hubert Gallery – the gallery will be leading a workshop for groups who would like to develop creative projects that create new opportunities to help communities understand and adapt to our changing planet. This is an opportunity to connect with the gallery’s Climate Conversation project and local artists, including aspiring young artists.

Afternoon

  • Explore the ingredients needed to support local climate action – with Zoey Cooper, Exmouth Town Councils, award winning, Climate Officer.
  • Building community through cooperative buying and social eating – with Craig Jolly from Mushroom Food Network Exmouth who has been hosting community suppers and breadmaking activities and has run a local standing community buying group.
  • Getting People Through the Door – Promoting Your Repair Café or Community Project with the CAG Devon team
Learn simple, creative ways to boost footfall at your Repair Café or community group. From eye-catching posters to engaging social media content (think reels, short films, and stories), this session will share easy, low-cost tips to help you reach more people and grow your impact. Perfect for organisers and volunteers looking to build buzz and community support.
  • Networking & Discussion: Connect to the hive mind over and a dedicated climate café discussion.
