Spring clean the CAG Devon way

Thursday, 18 April 2024/CAG Devon updates, Group blog, News, Reuse and sharing, Story, Topic/Leah Nudds

As the days grow longer and the air begins to feel lighter, it’s clear that spring has arrived in Devon. While the rainy weather may still linger, it’s the perfect time to shake off the winter blues and embark on a spring clean. But this year, let’s do it the CAG Devon sustainable way!

Traditional cleaning products often come packaged in single-use plastics and contain harmful ingredients that can harm the environment. This spring, why not make the switch to refillable or plastic-free alternatives?

Devon is home to a variety of fantastic zero-waste stores and refill options, making it easier than ever to make eco-conscious choices. Check out the Recycle Devon website for a directory of zero-waste shops in the area. Share your local go-to spots with your community and support local businesses committed to reducing waste and promoting sustainability. And for those feeling crafty, why not try your hand at making homemade cleaning products? Check out this websites that offer plenty of inspiration and recipes for chemical-free alternatives.

Spring cleaning isn’t just about tidying up the house, it’s also an opportunity to level up your cleaning with the right equipment. From hoovers to hedge trimmers, power washers to carpet cleaners, local Library of Things has you covered. Borrowing items from these community-driven projects not only helps the planet by reducing consumption but also saves you money and storage space. If you have items that are no longer needed, consider donating them to a Library of Things. Your unused items could be someone else’s treasure, and by sharing resources, we can all contribute to a more sustainable community.

Check out our CAG groups Share Shop Tiverton, Share Shed, and North Tawton Library of Things to learn more about borrowing items or donating to these fantastic community initiatives.

Let’s embrace sustainability and spring clean the CAG Devon way! We love supporting our local community groups and independent Devon Businesses.
