Safeguarding and confidentiality policy – example

Here you can download an example safeguarding and confidentially policy.

Bear in mind it is an example policy only, for you to adapt to the specific needs of your group.

Your group’s own safeguarding and confidentiality policy must be appropriate to your own activities, users and locations. You will need to make sure that all volunteers are aware of the policy, understand it and agree to operate within it.

Your policy should be reviewed and updated as appropriate, annually.

Purpose of the policy

The purpose of your safeguarding and confidentiality policy is to:

  • Provide protection for children, young people or vulnerable adults who attend activities and events organised by the group;
  • Provide volunteers with guidance on the procedures they should adopt if they suspect a child, young person or vulnerable adult may be experiencing, or be at risk of, harm.
