Get cosy with ECOE to save energy!
Exeter Community Energy (ECOE) are keen to work with CAG Devon groups and others to extend the reach of their energy (and money) saving work. Read on to see how you can empower your community to tackle energy issues locally.
CAG Devon groups (and others) are invited to partner with ECOE.
We can’t all experts in everything relating to the climate emergency. This is where working with others brings benefits to everyone. ECOE, a community-owned and run social enterprise, has a huge amount of skills and experience around energy and wants to share it in your community. This could be a great win:win for CAG Devon groups, local residents, ECOE and the planet.
- Would you like ECOE to give a talk to your community group about energy efficiency or retrofitting homes?
- Could you host a regular or one-off drop-in advice clinic in your town or village?
- Do you have a noticeboard where you could display a poster about the free services on offer to residents?
- Would your team like to learn more about fuel poverty and energy efficiency and know how to provide help and reassurance to your community members?
- Do you have a roof suitable for community owned solar power?
- Do you have a project that could benefit from a grant from their community fund?
ECOE can help with all of these things. To find out more, or to discuss your partnership ideas, contact Tara Bowers, Director and Healthy Homes Project Manager at ECOE on 0800 772 3617 or email healthyhomes@ecoe.org.uk
And if you have some time to spare…
Energy Advice Vacancies
ECOE has secured funding to train 10 volunteer ‘Community Energy Champions’. Being an Energy Champion means supporting your friends, neighbours and communities to reduce their energy usage by becoming more energy efficient, helping them to save on their energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.
You will receive comprehensive training on the subject of household energy, from ECOE’s in-house experts and via accredited courses run by National Energy Action.
Whilst these roles are voluntary, training can help you gain invaluable transferable skills for your career development, as well as you having the satisfaction of giving back to your community. You may already be a key community adviser looking to diversify into energy advice, or you may be new to the field but passionate about all things green.
ECOE welcomes applications from people who are able to commit at least 4 hours per month to the role. To find out more or to apply, contact Tara Bowers at Exeter Community Energy on healthyhomes@ecoe.org.uk or call 0800 772 3617.
ECOE is also recruiting for their full-time advice team. There are vacancies for Home Energy Advisors and Retrofit Assessors across Devon. ECOE and other community energy groups working on the Sustainable Warmth and Retrofit projects in 2022 have vacancies to fill. If you or anyone you know might interested to find out more about these career opportunities, again get in touch with Tara.
