Fall in love with sustainable living!

Thursday, 22 February 2024/CAG Devon updates, Group blog, News, Story, Topic/Leah Nudds

After the success of our #CAGChristmas campaign, where we spread holiday cheer while promoting sustainability, we’ve also had fun with our campaign for February: the #LoveSustainable campaign.

Green heart in the soil

This month, we’ve been celebrating Valentine’s Day by encouraging everyone to fall in love with making sustainable choices. We encouraged you to #ReloveYourStuff #LoveYourPlanet and #SpreadTheCommunityLove

This February we’ve broken up with single-use and embraced reuse and repair! From toys to furniture, Devon has a vibrant Repair Network ready to help you #ReloveYourStuff. Check out the Devon Repair Network here.

And our fabulous CAG Devon repair cafés:

Abbotskerswell Repair Workshop, Ashburton Repair Café, Blackdown Hills Repair Café, Bovey & Heathfield Repair Café, Chudfix Repair Café, Crediton Repair Café , Kingsbridge Climate Action, Newton Abbot Community Shed, North Tawton Repair Café, Sidmouth repair Café, Sustainable Bradninch, Sustainable Hatherleigh, Tiverton Repair Café, Uffculme Green Team

We’ve asked you to #LoveYourPlanet by:

Utilising Repair Cafés: Improve your repair skills and give items a new lease on life.

Exploring YouTube and getting crafty: Find endless tutorials on repair, upcycling, and repurposing.

Utilising Community Fridges: one-third of all food produced goes to waste! Community fridges and larders also offer a sustainable solution to food waste.

Remember, just because you’re done with an item doesn’t mean it deserves to be loveless. Consider donating to charity shops or the brilliant Proper Job – Reclaim, Reuse, Recycle where you can donate your items and furniture, or participating in clothes swaps and sharing events.

If you need an item on an irregular basis, why not utilise Libraries of Things for items you don’t use often. Simply hire the item and return it to the shop after use! We have the fabulous Share Shed – A Library of Things in Totnes, and keep your eyes peeled for the new Share Shop Tiverton which was recently launched by Sustainable Tiverton!

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to #LoveYourCommunity. Show your support for the amazing community groups in Devon that work to improve our local areas. Whether you share their posts, attend events, or volunteer, you can spread love in countless ways. Explore some of these groups on our group page. You can also love the CAG community, whether you’re a member or looking for a community of likeminded people, join our CAG network, share knowledge through peer-to-peer learning and attend our network events!

We hope the love for our planet we spread this February is everlasting. Let’s make our resources last and create resilient, sustainable communities.
