Proper Job’s ‘Chagfix Repair Shop’ is back for a spring special! We will be at Endecott House on Saturday 11th April, 10.00am-12.30pm with our usual host of talented experts as well as bike repair and simple jewellery repair. There will also be a drop in leather scraps workshop, suitable for all, delivered by the wonderful Bracken & Sole. Payment for this workshop is on a donation on the day basis.
If we assess your item and we are unable to fix it at the event, it maybe possible to book it in for a separate longer appointment, or we will aim to signpost you to somewhere you can get it fixed!
Tea, coffee, cake and biscuits will be available at the event on a donation basis.
Below is a list of categories that you are able to book. Please when booking, book a ticket under the category that is most relevant to your item. If you have multiple items please book one ticket per item. Maximum 3 items per person. It is going to be helpful to know the nature of repair needed in some cases, and that can be done by emailing info@proper-job.org
Please note we cannot guarantee to fix your item, but we will always assess and advise. Repairs will be done for a donation but there may be a charge if your item requires spare parts. Alternatively If you know that your item requires a new part to be fitted please do source it, bring it along and we will fit it!
If you can’t attend please can you let us know as spaces are limited. Tickets require a donation on booking to secure your place. Sharpening is to be paid per item in cash on the day. Knives are £3 each, larger tools and gardening equipment £5 each.
Bikes
The Chagford Bike Fixer will give your bike a mini service/ fix minor repairs and talk you through basic maintenance and repair to ensure your bike is running smoothly. If your bike needs something more major it can be assessed and booked in for a further appointment.
Jewellery
Simple jewellery repairs such as clasps and catches. Please email info@proper-job.org with the nature of your repair
Textiles
Textile items, clothing and even cuddly toys that need minor repairs. Please let us know the nature of your repair by emailing info@proper-job.org so that we can make sure we have the materials needed.
Tool & Knife Sharpening
Peter from Moretonhampstead Community Shed will be on hand for all your sharpening needs! Knives, tools, garden shears etc. Bring them along and Peter will show you how to restore your blades and bring them back like new!
Please note knives etc cost £3 each and garden equipment £5 each to be paid on the day. This money will be donated to the Moretonhampstead Community Shed project.
Electricals & Radios
Small household electrical appliances and radios. Please email info@proper-job.org with details of your item and nature of repair so that we can ensure we have the relevant materials and equipment.
Leather Items
Mend straps on bags.
Sew up seams.
Show how to restore leather shoes and bags with cleaning and polishing.
Add holes to belts or straps.
Clocks
We can advise and assess. If you have a wind up clock with no key we can gauge the key size. Small repairs maybe possible at the event.
Mechanical items, Battery Operated Toys, Miscellaneous items
Mechanical items such as clockwork toys. We can attempt to get your battery operated toys working again! Any other miscellaneous items, we will have a look and do our best!
Wooden items
Wooden household or furniture items, wooden garden items (such as tool handles) in need of repair and restoration. Depending on the nature and length of the repair some may need to be completed after the event. Please advise us of nature of repair by emailing info@proper-job.org
Parking – The public car park is just up the road next to the Jubilee Hall, or there are two hour parking bays around the town centre. There is also a second car park on the way into town in the new estate opposite the school.
