SUMMARY:Talks Across Borders: Artists & their relationships to Trees\, an “If Trees Could Talk Devon” Event
DESCRIPTION:What are roles that trees play in artists’ practice? Why trees? How do artists interpret the provocation\, “If Trees Could Talk”? \nJoe Webster is known for his fine art graffiti landscapes – and the monumental mural in Newton Abbot Town Centre. He is actively seeking to put voices of communities in artworks. \nGordon Field is known for his Manifesto for the Trees. His relationship with the trees is more than artistic\, it is spirirtual. He is a renowned dowser. Trees inform his life\, not just his work. \nJacqueline Wedlake Hatton’s artistic practices explore her profound connection with nature and how trees perform subtle acts of negotiation\, as humans do\, to maximise their growth. \nAnn Blockley’s watercolour and mixed-media artworks are evocative\, atmospheric and intuitive\, capturing an elusive air of mystery and magic within Nature that lies tantalisingly between reality and the imagined. \nThis is one of five talks in June and July at Ashburton Arts Centre which form part of If Trees Could Talk Devon 2026 International Art Biennale in conjunction with Significant Seams here in Devon\, and the Tuvmboa-Tunmba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art\, Batangas\, Philippines. \nSee iftreescouldtalk.art and significantseams.org.uk\nAll five events are listed at wegottickets.com/IfTreesCouldTalk2026 \nAshburton Arts Centre\nAlways three prices – please pay what you can. Pay less\, come to more! See Access\, Tickets & Finding Us for more about why there are three ticket prices\, plus other useful info about coming to events at Ashburton Arts Centre. \nLevel access from street – please contact us on boxoffice@ashburtonarts.org.uk if a wheelchair space is needed\, or if you have any other special requirements.

SUMMARY:SisterWood Community Day: The Sun Shines On ☀️ (FREE)
DESCRIPTION:SisterWood is holding a free Community Day: The Sun Shines On ☀️for girls and young women\, and we’d appreciate you sharing it through your organisations\, networks\, family and friends. \nThis day is open to past SisterWood participants\, and girls who are curious about SisterWood are really welcome too. Together we’ll help shape its future. \nWe’ll spend the day together beneath the trees\, sharing food\, creativity\, conversation and connection. Alongside reconnecting with one another\, we’ll also be exploring what’s next for SisterWood and gathering ideas from the people who know it best. \nThis is part of our co-production work\, meaning we’re creating the future of SisterWood with the girls and young women it serves. We’ll be exploring what has been most meaningful\, what participants would like to see more of\, and how we can continue building a supportive and empowering community. \nPlease note that this is a standalone community and co-production event rather than our longer woodland wellbeing programme. It offers a relaxed\, pressure-free opportunity for girls to meet the team\, experience the environment and learn more about SisterWood. \n📅 Saturday 27 June 2026\n🕥 10:00am – 4:30pm\n📍 Oakwood\, Denbury \nPlaces are limited and booking is essential. Parents/carers will need to complete the registration form in advance. \nIf you work with any girls aged 12–18 who may enjoy spending a day outdoors\, connecting with others and contributing ideas for the future of SisterWood\, we’d be grateful if you could share this opportunity with them. \nBooking form: https://forms.gle/Fq4zhPN8Ht75M4AHA\nGin our lead facilitator is very willing to answer any questions\, please contact her on facilitator@sisterwood.org.uk.
