Refill is a practical campaign which aims to stem the tide of single-use plastic bottle pollution by making Devon a county in which refilling your water bottle becomes a cultural norm.
Refill Devon was launched in 2017 with support from:
How does it work?
Participating venues simply display Refill sticker in their window. This will alert customers that they’re welcome to fill up their re-useable water bottle! CAG Devon volunteers have been signing up venues around Mid-Devon, and creating publicity campaigns to encourage the public to carry and use their refillable bottles.

Why do we need Refill Devon?
In the UK an estimated 800 plastic bottles per MINUTE are either ending up being disposed of or as litter, which will too often make its way into our waterways and out to sea. Single use plastic bottles are expensive to produce, use valuable resources and create tons of waste once they’ve had their brief use.
Who’s already doing it?
The original idea of introducing a refillable water bottle scheme was introduced by Keep Britain Tidy’s Beach Care programme in Bude in 2014. Building on the successful Bude scheme, City to Sea CIC, a community group based in Bristol launched Refill Bristol and now have over 200 refill points across Bristol’s city centre. Dorset has recently launched a Refill scheme and other areas across Britain are now adopting the Refill model and will be launching soon!
