Do you love good food? Do you enjoy chatting to people? Would you like to support people in your community to eat well and save money? In the UK most families with kids throw away around £720 a year. We want to work with you to change this.
We have two opportunities:
- Food Champions for events
CAG Devon are looking for enthusiastic people from the Mid Devon area to become Food Champions and attend local events to give people advice on reducing food waste. You don’t need to be an expert in food or cooking. You just need to be friendly, confident and keen to waste less and help others.
2.Cooks for community get togethers
We are also looking for keen cooks. If you are confident cooking up a tasty meal with a bunch of leftovers, we’d love to support you to share recipes and develop cookery workshops and food surplus meals in your community using household leftovers and excess food from supermarkets and shops.
Volunteers will be given free Love Food Hate Waste training which will help you understand the key reasons why people waste food. It will include lots of practical ideas and interactive games to help people to eat well and throw less away. You’ll be given a resource pack full of activities to take away and be able to borrow displays and equipment from CAG Devon to take to local events.
The training is provided for free but we ask volunteers to champion the cause in their community – we’ll also pay a reasonable travel allowance within the Tiverton area.
If you think you, your community group or colleagues would be interested in getting involved we would love to hear from you, so please get in touch.
